Stage Management

Kent is an Actors' Equity Association stage manager and has worked on cruise ships, theme parks, regional theatres, and even on a moving train! He has worked with casts as large as 80 and as small as 4, with productions running as long as 415 performances, as well as one night showcases and cabarets. 

Kent is also the creator of the YouTube channel Half Hour Call, dedicated to shining the spotlight on technical theatre and making theatre training more accessible. Click here for how-to videos, interviews with industry leaders, and general theatre updates each week!

  • Tracked properties, scenic pieces, coordinated preset, and ran the deck for all performances in the Marinoff, an in-the-round venue. 

  • Also served as intimacy captain for both productions.

  • Maintained safety and performance standards throughout run, including a two-level unit set.

  • Coordinated with multiple departments to ensure smooth run of show.

  • Also served as fight captain for the run to maintain safety and performance standards. 

  • Led team of two stage managers plus a deck manager in performances.

  • Oversaw cast of 29, including two child actors, plus a crew of 11 and a stage management team of 4. 

  • Facilitated quick rehearsal process (less than two weeks from first rehearsal to opening night), including technical rehearsals, and understudy put-ins. 

  • Maintained a safe work environment with stilts, unicycling, juggling, and over 2700 glass lightbulbs lining every surface of the set. Created and implemented standard operating procedures and contingencies for each of these elements. 

  • In collaboration with the Dance Captain (Emily Larger), created reblocks, cut shows, and split tracks to maintain artistic vision throughout multiple performer absences due to COVID cases. 

Almost Maine

ALMOST, MAINE

  • Filled in as a last minute replacement show stage manager. 

  • Learned to call and maintain the show in two days.

  • Implemented safety protocols for SPARK, including high wind, rain, and pyrotechnic misfires.

SEVEN SEAS MARINER

  • Managed cast of 12.

  • Facilitated all rehearsals for all four production shows aboard the Seven Seas Mariner, including Blazing Boots, Tuxedo, Broadway in Concert, and the Mariner premiere of Divos and Divas. 

  • Served as primary liaison between Tampa rehearsal team, shipboard management, and designers working remotely.

  • Coordinated and ran install aboard the Seven Seas Mariner as it sailed from Sydney to Perth, Australia during the early stages of the COVID-19 crisis.

  • Coordinated the relaunch of the Regent Seven Seas Mariner as it crossed the Atlantic Ocean after more than 20 months of being shut down.
